The culture and history of the Australian Aboriginal people is deeply fascinating and deeply moving. Their art conveys and celebrates a unique connection with the earth, with the elements and with all living things.Colour, shape, movement, and sound become intertwined with life, heritage, and spirituality. Here in Cornwall many artists also find a unique connection between their creativity and the natural wild beauty of the Cornish landscape. Delia Webb is one such artist, and her aim is to bring affordable and accessible workshops to schools, community groups, businesses and private clients across Cornwall and the South West of England.
ConnectingUsing the traditional symbols, and techniques of Australian Aboriginal Art it is possible to make a real and positive connection between the left and right hand side of the brain - the practical 'doing' right hemisphere, and the emotional 'feeling' left hemisphere. Many children, and adults find the process incredibly relaxing. In fact one student recently remarked that she felt ' totally calm, and almost like I've been meditating whilst painting'.

CreatingEvery person has some creative abilities - even if they think they don't! Once the inner connection has begun, it is possible to create a very unique and personal piece of artwork that reflects your own story or journey. It is a simple and beautifully accessible artform, which many people who have never painted before find hugely satisfying. Children in particular open their minds very readily to the bold shapes, and natural patterns which appear in their imaginations.

CommunicatingHaving created a personal picture using traditional colours and symbols, it is possible to re-tell the story or journey it represents. In this way the message it holds can be shared with a few chosen people, or with many others. Collaborative pieces of artwork can also be worked on by small or larger groups, so enabling co-operation and compromise to achieve a shared vision.
