Our workshops are suitable for children, young people and adults, and for schools they can be specifically tailored for KS1, KS2, KS3, & KS4. The broads aims of an introductory Aboriginal Art Workshop are to develop:-

• A basic awareness of the Australian Aboriginal people and The Dreamtime
• An appreciation of the significance of art in Aboriginal culture
• An understanding of some of the basic symbols and techniques used in Aboriginal artwork
• Artistic and imaginative skills in reproducing these symbols to create individual or collaborative story & journey pictures

You will learn the form and meaning of some of the basic symbols and shapes used in Aboriginal art.

Dreamtime Stories

Listen to some of the Dreamtime creation stories retold and illustrated by

Method & Materials

Learn about traditional materials and methods such as painting on wood with ochres

Artefacts

Handle some of the artefacts such as these Direction Sticks or 'Toas'
